Safe Hunting Practices for South Dakota hunting
Ensuring our hunters are safe is of the utmost importance for Dakota River Ranch. Whether in pheasant hunting in South Dakota or anywhere else, all hunters should follow basic safe practices at all times
- Make sure you know your target before pulling the trigger & check in front of and behind the target so no one is in the way
- Take care in where your gun is pointed
- Keep your fingers off the trigger when you’re not shooting
- Alcohol and drugs DO NOT mix while hunting
- Always treat your gun as if it is loaded
- Wear blaze orange when hunting deer or pheasant
You are encouraged to practice shooting each morning prior to the day’s hunt at the trap range. Clay pigeons are provided and shooting experts are on hand to provide tips and advice.
